An Archive that stays in order.

Archive a message and it is out of the way, not gone: in the Archive of its account on your own mail server, listed by year and month, found by a search when you ask for it, and no heavier on your device than you choose.

The sidebar with Tom's Archive listed by year and month: 2026 open with September to January and their counts, July selected and its 10 messages in the list

On your server, in your folders.

Archive a message and it moves to the Archive folder of its account, on your server, where any other mail app finds it too. An account without one gets it the first time you archive.

  • Swipe from the left on the iPhone and the iPad, or ⌃⌘A on the Mac
  • Drag hundreds of messages at once: large moves go to the server in parts, so a server with a limit per move, like Zimbra, takes them all

By year, by month, with the counts.

List the Archive as one folder, by year, or by year and month: the newest year on top, its months from December back to January, each row with its number of messages. Choose it for each account in Settings › Appearance, or right-click the Archive. Only the sidebar changes; nothing moves on the server.

Every account's Archive in one list.

With more than one account, All Archives under All Inboxes is one list over every account's Archive, newest first, as All Inboxes is over the inboxes. Each account keeps its own Archive below.

Out of a search until you ask.

A search across all mailboxes leaves the Archive out, so what you are working on is not buried under ten years of old threads. Include Archive, right above the results, brings it in; a search inside the Archive itself always finds what is there.

Years of mail, without filling the device.

Every message is kept in full to begin with. Where that is too much, Settings › Storage has two rules for each account. Keep attachments and pictures: all of them, those of the last months, those under a size, or none; the message keeps its text and is still found by a search, and an attachment left on your mail server shows a cloud and comes back with a click or a tap. Keep message text, for a limited time: an older message keeps its sender, subject, and date, and is fetched again when you open it.

Offline, for real

Search, read, and file without a connection. Archiving, flagging, and deleting wait on your device and reach the server when it is back, in the order you did them.

A Flagged mailbox

Under each account, while it has flagged mail: everything you meant to come back to, whichever folder it is in.

Nothing leaves the device

The index is built on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad and stays there. No server of ours ever sees a word of your mail, or what you searched for.
